Design Highlights
The Zen Enso incense holder from Ginga-Do is a piece deeply rooted in Japanese craftsmanship and Zen Buddhist philosophy. This elegant set is more than just an accessory; This incense holder is a functional tool for your mindfulness practice and a beautiful object that brings the profound tranquility of Zen into your home..
The design features two beautifully crafted components: a solid (relatively heavy) steel plate that serves as a stable base and ash catcher, and a polished brass holder that sits at its center. The brass holder is ingeniously designed to securely hold incense sticks up to 15 cm in length.
The Spirit of Zen
The holder's design is inspired by two core concepts of Zen practice:
Ensō (円相): The circular plate embodies the Ensō, the hand-drawn circle that symbolizes enlightenment, the universe, and the liberating emptiness achieved in meditation. It represents a moment of perfect harmony and freedom.
Zazen (座禅): The act of burning incense is a traditional element of Zazen (seated meditation), where it is used to measure time and create a serene atmosphere.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

GINGA DO
Gingado (銀雅堂) is a distinguished design line by NAGAE, crafted in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, a region celebrated for its centuries-old metalworking tradition. The collection features exquisitely made metal incense holders and tableware, each reflecting a harmonious blend of traditional Japanese aesthetics and contemporary design sensibilities.
As the second-largest city in Toyama Prefecture, Takaoka is a major manufacturing hub on the Sea of Japan with deep historical roots.
Originally founded as the castle town for Maeda Toshinaga, the second lord of the powerful Kaga Domain, it later flourished as a center for commerce and industry. This development led to its renown for traditional crafts, especially Takaoka copperware.
