Highlights

The Oya Incense Set is a stunning fusion of ancient geology and modern design. it is more than just an incense holder; it's a piece of functional home decor that invites a moment of stillness into your day. Crafted with premium materials sourced directly from Japan, it’s designed for the discerning individual who appreciates quality, history, and mindful living.

The Plate: The Legacy of Oya Stone

The incense plate, carved from Oya stone, is a rare volcanic tuff found only in the Oya district of Tochigi, Japan. This is not just any stone. With an incredible heat resistance of over 1000°C (1832°F), this material has been the trusted choice for traditional hearths, charcoal grills, and kilns across Japan for centuries. This remarkable fire resistance ensures that the plate not only catches ash with utmost safety but also stands as a testament to enduring natural design.

Each plate is one-of-a-kind, showcasing a subtle, porous pattern (Cushion stickers are included). It is a unique expression that tells the story of its geological origins. A protective clear coating enhances its durability while letting the organic, earthy beauty shine through.

The Incense Holder: Geometric Bronze Sculpture

Resting on the stone is the Poly incense holder, a multi-faceted piece cast in solid bronze. With a timeless, reddish-brown character, bronze is a historic material designed to age beautifully, developing a deep and tasteful patina over time that reflects its use. Its modern, icosahedral (20-sided) shape is a work of sculptural art, allowing you to position your incense stick at three distinct angles for a customized burning experience. The Poly is suitable for stick-type incense, whether with or without a bamboo core. A clever through-hole design ensures that removing any leftover incense is effortless.

Care instructions

To clean Oya Stone Plate, gently dust with a soft, dry brush.
For deeper cleaning, you may rinse the plate with water and let it air dry completely. Do not scrub with abrasive sponges or harsh cleaners, as this can damage the protective surface coating.

To clean Poly Tin Incense Holder, simply wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth, then dry thoroughly to prevent water spots.

Precautions for Use

  • This product is not intended for any purpose other than those described in this instruction manual.
  • Use the incense at a length and adjust the angle that allows the ash to fall onto the ash plate.
  • Do not leave burning incense unattended. Always ensure it is fully extinguished before leaving the room.
  • Place the set on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface and use the included cushion stickers as intended.
  • Keep the set away from flammable objects such as curtains, paper, or anything that could catch fire.
  • Keep the set out of reach of children and pets at all times, both during and after use, as components may be hot.
  • Always use incense in a well-ventilated space.
  • Avoid touching or moving the holder or the stone plate during use, as they can become hot. Allow them to cool down completely before handling.
  • While highly fire-resistant, discoloration may occur if the incense is exposed to direct flame or if it is placed too close to the flame.
  • The soft, lightweight stone has a porous structure, so small stone fragments may fall off.
  • The texture and color may change over time and depending on usage.
  • Due to the use of natural materials, there may be individual differences in the pattern and texture of the stone.

  • TOYAMA PERFECTURE

As the second-largest city in Toyama Prefecture, Takaoka is a major manufacturing hub on the Sea of Japan with deep historical roots.

Originally founded as the castle town for Maeda Toshinaga, the second lord of the powerful Kaga Domain, it later flourished as a center for commerce and industry. This development led to its renown for traditional crafts, especially Takaoka copperware.

  • TAKAOKA COPPERWARE

Takaoka copperware is defined by its mastery of metal casting (鋳金, chūkin). However, what truly elevates Takaoka's technique is the finishing process, a collaborative effort among specialized craftsmen who meticulously polish, engrave, and apply unique, traditional patination techniques to create an extraordinary range of deep, nuanced colors on the metal's surface, turning each cast object into a singular work of art.

  • NAGAE PLUS
