About efu

efu is a masterpiece of Japanese design awarded the prestigious Good Design Award 2022. Crafted from solid brass, this minimalist incense burner redefines the art of incense enjoyment. Its innovative design allows incense sticks to be laid horizontally, with smoke gracefully emerging from a sleek, linear slit, creating a captivating visual display that complements the calming fragrance.

The smoke rising from the linear slits sometimes sways and sometimes remains in place, creating an organic and accidental appearance that contrasts with the shape of the burner. The name efu incorporates the three "f"s of "1/f fluctuation," which is said to create a pleasant sensation: frequency, fluctuation, and flow.

Care instructions

Discoloration may occur if touched with bare hands. If this is a concern, we recommend wearing soft gloves when handling the product.

If you find the efu holder is heavily soiled, wipe with a soft cloth using water and then dry it to completely remove all moisture. If you are concerned about tar stains caused by smoke, spray alcohol on the surface and then wipe it off with a soft cloth.

*Do not use cleansers, metal brushes, steel wool, or metal polish as they will scratch the surface.

Precautions for Use

  • Do not use this product for any purpose other than its intended use.
  • Please use incense sticks within the dimensions of the non-flammable mat. Place the incense on a non-flammable mat, making sure it does not touch the metal part of the base.
  • Using the product for other purposes may result in a fire or other accident.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Do not leave the incense unattended until it has completely burned out.
  • The heat of the incense and the resin from the smoke will cause discoloration. The resin from the incense smoke will adhere to the underside of the lid and the surface of the product. The resin can be removed with an alcohol swab.
  • Friction may scratch the surface of the product.
  • Leaving moisture on the product may cause darkening or rust.
  • Incense advertised as low-smoke may extinguish when the lid is closed.
